The client

Owned by Topps Tiles, Parkside Architectural Tiles is a premium porcelain and ceramic tile specification company serving architects, designers, contractors and developers.

The brief

Parkside were looking to incorporate their legacy brand Strata Technical Tiles into their Parkside portfolio. This was an opportunity to build a site that would help drive their goal of becoming the leading brand on the market.

While Parkside and Strata both had existing websites neither supported the user journey for their 4 types of customers. The key objective was to develop a consolidated website for both brands that gave a great user experience and supported each customer journey. The content would need to be visually engaging and showcase their breadth of product ranges, technical expertise, sustainability credentials and quality of service.

The solution

To create a tailored experience visitors were first asked how they would like to continue though the site. They could then view content specific for their needs. Relevant tiles collections were then featured and an inspiration gallery was created to exhibit exciting new products. Tile collections could be added to a basket of favourites were customers could then place an ordered for free tile samples. Real world case studies were also placed around the site as they were shown to improve SEO performance.

A drag and drop CMS plugin was added to WordPress to allow myself and the web developer to work alongside each other in producing some creative layouts. This then proved beneficial to the client as they had the flexibility to add rich content in the future. I supplied the client with full website training on handover of the project.

The design was met with praise from the client... the first time in my career I’ve received a gasp of delight on seeing the initial concepts.

The final product gave them a contemporary looking site which they could build on in the future, allowing them to follow their aspiration of becoming the UK market leader.
